Language translation is a feature that allows for your messages to be automatically translated into a contact’s preferred language. Language translation is automatically enabled for your messages, but you do have the option to disable it, if need be. You also have the ability to disable specific languages for your alert.
Tip: Language translation is only available for voice and email messages.
Disable Language Translation
- Go to the Message Types page of creating a message. You will see “English is selected and can not be deselected because it is the default language for your account.”
- Click on the Show/Hide Supported Languages button. All languages supported by your account will be checked off.
- Uncheck the box for the language(s) you do not want to enable for this alert.
Disable Automatic Language Translation
- On the Compose Message page of your alert, uncheck the box next to Automated Language Translation.
- Select a language and click the Translate Content button. You will see the translation of your message in the selected language.
- From here, you have the option to edit the message content, record your voice message in that language, or have that message recorded via Text-to-Speech.
Tip: Automated computer language translation is not guaranteed to be accurate. If you wish to verify the accuracy of translations to the languages supported by your system, uncheck Automated Language Translation.
View Supported Languages for Account
- Go to Settings > Language Mappings. All supported languages will be displayed on this page. These are the only languages that can be translated when creating alerts.
- On the Message Types page of creating a message, you will see “English is selected and can not be deselected because it is the default language for your account.” Click on the Show/Hide Supported Languages button. All languages supported by your account will be checked off.
Tip: The default language is English. Preferred languages must match up with supported languages in order for the proper messages to be received, otherwise messages will be delivered in English.
