When using SwiftK12, we strongly encourage all users to test their alerts prior to sending them. You may have formatted an email in a way you did not wish to, or the Text-To-Speech engine pronounced a word in a way you did not expect it (Ex: Wind as in “wind”ing up a toy is pronounced differently from the wind from “wind” chill, but they are spelled the same!). Regardless of the circumstance, it is important to know how to test your alerts to make sure you are sending the right message.
Method #1: Upon Message Creation
Before launching any alert you’ve made for the first time, we offer a method for sending a test.
- From the home page. click “Send an Alert” (Create & Send).
- Follow the regular steps for creating an alert, until you reach the “Send Options“ step.
- Click “Test Alert” (To Yourself).
- Depending on the channels used in the message (Voice, SMS, Email), you will be prompted to input your information.
- Once completed, click “Launch Test.”
- If you had ten digit number(s) without spaces or other characters, and/or a valid email, then Success! Click “Ok.”
- Once you receive the test(s), and they are to your liking, you can launch with confidence!
Method #2: For Messages Created In The Past
You may find yourself looking to save some time by using an alert created in the past, but you might not remember if it was set up exactly the way you wanted. Luckily, it only takes a few clicks (and inputting your contact info, of course) to test these alerts to yourself, too!
- From the home page, click “Manage Alerts” (View & Edit).
- Click “Test” next to the message you wish to send to yourself.
- Depending on the channels used in the message (Voice, SMS, Email), you will be prompted to input your information.
- Click “Launch Test.”
- If you had ten digit number(s) without spaces or other characters, and/or a valid email, then that’s it! You should receive the test shortly!
