In SwiftK12, we offer automated language translation. However, you may wish to see what the translated content is for languages other than English, to check translation accuracy prior to sending an alert. This guide is designed to show you how you can see the content that will be sent to those whose preferred language is not English.
This guide is only relevant to schools that have Language Mappings set up SwiftK12. Before using this guide, please go to SwiftK12, then Settings > Language Mappings, to check that your school is set to send messages in more than one language. If not, and you would wish to set up language translation, please contact support!
- From the Home Page click “Send an Alert (Create & Send).”
- Complete the Basic Info step as normal, then click “Next.”
- You can click on the Show/Hide Support Languages button to see the languages whose content we will be able to check (designated by a check mark next to the language).
- Select the message type(s) you would like to send. Only phone calls and emails support language translation.
- Click “Next” at the bottom of the Message Types step.
- Type your English message in the English Content Box. This is the message that will be translated into the other supported languages.
- Click “Next” and then click “Save and Continue.” This will not launch the alert.
By following these steps, the system has translated the English Content into the supported languages of the account. If you follow these following steps, you will be able to see the translated content.
- Click Home and then click “Manage Alerts (View and Edit).”
- Click the edit button next to the alert you created in the first set of directions.
- Click the “Next” button, and then click “Next” again in the following screen.
- Uncheck the Automated Language Translations button. This will reveal the translated languages above the message content box.
- Now, you can click on the buttons next to that language, to view the translated content! Here are some examples:
